Mayor Willie Oswalt

Mayor Willie Oswalt was elected as a Councilperson in 1974 and served on the Lake City Council until he was elected as the Mayor in 1988 and has served continuously as the Mayor of Lake City since that time.

Mayor Oswalt graduated from Mississippi State University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree and subsequently received a Master of Industrial Education also from MSU in 1972. He then completed a Specialist degree in School Administration from Atlanta University.

Before becoming Mayor, he served local high schools as an Industrial Arts teacher and football and track coach. Mayor Oswalt later became Athletic Director and head Football Coach at Morrow Senior High School.

Mayor Oswalt has used his strong leadership ability to serve on numerous civic organizations and boards. The Mayor serves on the Atlanta Regional Commission board where he has been a board member for eight years.
